Fall Service Days Grant Competition

Serve DC is offering grants to support community service projects with a focus on disability inclusion for 2012 Fall Seasons of Service Days, which include the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance (September 11, 2012) and National Disability Employment Awareness Month (October, 2012). Grants worth up to $5000 each will be awarded.

9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

The September 11 National Day of Service & Remembrance was started by 9/11 family members and support groups as a way to honor the victims and heroes of that tragic day.  Serve DC seeks to engage all District residents to sustain the remarkable spirit of unity and service that brought America and the world together in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month

As stated in President Obama’s 2011 proclamation, “During National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we recognize the skills that people with disabilities bring to our workforce, and we rededicate ourselves to improving employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors for those living with disabilities.”

Eligible applicants are local nonprofit organizations, public schools, universities, community groups, faith-based organizations, state and local units of government, and public organizations. Programs applying to Serve DC for funding must conduct the project within the District of Columbia.
