Greater DC Cares is the District's volunteer center and the largest coordinator of volunteer services in the greater Washington region. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty encourages residents to consider being a tutor or a mentor to an at-risk youth in the District. Learn more about some of the District's tutoring and mentoring programs . 

 

Thousands of District residents volunteer throughout the year during the Seasons of Service Days, proving that a single day of service can grow into a lifelong commitment of helping others. Seasons of Service Days are designated days throughout the year that provide opportunities for people to volunteer for community service projects.

Join the DC Citizen Corps

DC Citizen Corps provides residents valuable emergency training and education to prepare themselves, their family, and community in case of an emergency. The program brings together local community leaders, neighborhood volunteers, and the network of first responder personnel to increase community involvement in emergency preparedness and response.
